Humanistic, Holistic & Practical Approach to therapy.
It’s never an easy venture finding a psychologist with the right “fit” for you. I hope the information below will give you the information you need to make your decision.
Most of the time we are able to effectively manage the difficulties we face using our own knowledge and resources. Sometimes we need guidance along the way. Seeking help when the obstacles seem too great may be the very best way you can continue to take good care of yourself and your family.
Congratulations on taking those first steps on the pathway to growth, change and wellness. Whether you are facing the frustrations of a temporary stressful situation or struggling with a longer term concern, psychological counselling can empower you and your loved ones to find the way to greater health and happiness. If you are:
- Searching for Solutions to Overcome Challenges in your Life
- Striving to Reach New Goals on your quest for Success and Wellness
- Family councelling and couples councelling: Desiring more Harmony and Fulfillment in your Intimate or Family Relationships
- Looking for Practical Parenting Strategies to help a Child or Teen
- Needing to leave the Pain of the Past Behind and Move into the Future with Resilience and Coping Skills
- Wanting to feel more Contentment, Confidence, Joy and Hope…
Each client has unique needs and counselling or therapy is adapted specifically to each person. Although, creating a client environment that is judgment free & filled with empathy, as well as a place where confidentiality is key is universally applied to each and every client. You can expect to be listened to with respect, perhaps you may be challenged to explore a different perspective and practice a new skill or behaviour. I will encourage you to utilize your insight and continue your learning outside the therapy relationship.
Client wellbeing is of paramount importance. Both the client and the therapist bring important qualities to the counselling relationship. I know that you bring enormous potential for growth and the natural human desire to move towards greater health and happiness. Together we will come to recognize the many strengths that you already possess. There have been challenges and obstacles you have already overcome with creativity and skill. We will discover that many more solutions already lie within you. I will bring my expertise and commitment to encourage you to reach your goals through the most effective and efficient methods available. I will help you take action to make the changes you need and want to make. While we cannot control many life events, we can determine how we choose to cope with them. I’ll help you to identify limiting beliefs and replace self-defeating patterns with healthier, more adaptive choices.
I practice with a holistic, solution-focused approach. I will support you with understanding, a positive focus, and years of experience in helping people like you create more satisfying lives.
Therapy techniques supported by Research are the most helpful in facilitating the growth that you want for yourself and your family. I have advanced training and specialization in helping clients create change and transform their lives using:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)
- Life Stress Reduction (LSR)
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
- Coaching to Improve Parenting Strategies
- Communication, Assertiveness and Social Skills Training
Psychotherapy Sessions: with a licensed psychologist can be claimed as health expenses when you file your income tax.
Insurance Coverage: A registered psychologist’s fees are often covered (at least in part) by an extended health benefits plan either purchased by you or through your employer. You should consult with your extended health provider or look in their benefits booklet to see what coverage you might have. Victims of motor vehicle accidents may qualify for services with a licensed psychologist through S.A.A.Q. Work Accident victims may qualify with C.S.S.T.
Confidentiality:
I take confidentiality very seriously. Your understanding that you can talk about anything in therapy, and that it will remain confidential and private, is paramount if therapy is to be helpful. I follow the confidentially requirements of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec, and I will be pleased to discuss the rare exceptions to confidentiality unless you request that I share certain information with another party (in which case I will ask you to sign a consent form providing me with permission to release information).
