Welcome Aboard!
In April 1991 Le Poisson d’Avril opened its doors and became the first restaurant in Quebec City dedicated exclusively to seafood and fish of the world. At that time, the restaurant was located on Cote de la Fabrique in the shadows of the Basilica and City Hall.



In 1996, the call of the water became too strong and the restaurant moved to the Old Port of Quebec directly in front of the marina and the market. A new adventure was about to begin. The Old Port itself has taken on a major beautification process over the last five years. Goodbye to decrepid buildings and polluting factories. Hello to new condominiums, parks, bicycle paths, art galleries and antique stores.

The Poisson d’Avril has maintained its heading. Anchored in its new environment the restaurant continues to impress its clientele with its ravishing bouillabaisse, its all you can eat mussels, its fresh fish and seafood and more recently its grilled beef, lamb and wild game. All of this while maintaining a relaxing ambience that patrons keep coming back for.

Our Team
Christian Bernier (nicknamed Captain Bernier) has been there since the opening hour (10:20am April 1 1991). It is he who steers the ship to ensure that his passengers enjoy everything about their experience at The Poisson d’Avril.



Herminia De La Cruz, native of the Dominican Republic, warms the kitchen and every plate served with her radiant smile and her delicate touch.

The Poisson d’Avril staff is made up of a brilliant team, knowledgable and experienced in the food service industry. They are happy to advise you on your choice of wine most suited to accompany your meal as well as describe any of our menu selections.

The table d’hote menu changes regularly in accordance with new fish and seafood arrivals and changes of season. Our menu not only offers a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood but also a vast selection from our grill.
